Students at the ATTiC

For those seeking to become Alexander teachers, The ATTiC offers an AmSAT (American Society for the Alexander Technique) program leading to certification.  We follow all the guidelines set out by this organization including, three year training period, 1600 hour and 5 to 1 student teacher ratio. This program began in 1987 and continues proudly on into its 21st year developing well-trained Alexander Technique Teachers.

 It is an apprenticeship style training taking no more than 15 students at any given training period. Upon completion, students are eligible to apply for membership in all organizations of Alexander teachers worldwide including AmSAT.



The school is designed to assist students in developing the necessary skills to effect the earmark changes that the technique is renowned for while providing students with a new career in the education, health or performance fields that are both financially and emotionally rewarding. Much attention is given to creating a supportive and intelligent environment in which students can thrive.

CURRICULUM INCLUDES:

• Creative approaches to the study of anatomy and physiology
• Development of awareness
• Understanding the psychological nature of change
• Cultivation of listening hands
• Learning to teach groups
• Individual projects
• Field trips
• Daily receiving and giving of hands-on work
• Study of developmental movement patterns
• Working with ordinary daily activity and performance 
• Examination of Alexander's texts and other literature 
• The profession: How to set up a practice
